My Relationships With Words

My relationship with words has gotten better with time. By that I mean I went from being very substandard with words to now getting the hang of how and when to use them. Throughout my middle school and somewhat high school years, I never really payed any attention to the specific rules on how to use words. The words I would use on school assignments were filled with fragments. I had a hard time trying to explain myself words. Looking back to some of my essays I did, I ask myself what was I thinking using when I was writing those essays; they were horrible. During those times my words either lead me to the principal’s office or staying after class with my instructor. Reasons why it would lead me to the principal’s office is because I had a really bad smart mouth. I would talk back to teachers all the time with no care of what the consequences would be.  Over the time I realized how talking back to my instructors was not beneficial at all. I was missing out on really important stuff I know I will need for the rest of my life. Sometimes finding the right words to explain myself can be difficult. I know what it is that I want to say in my head but can’t seem to find a way to actually say them out of my mouth. Words have taught me a lot in life, because you have to be really careful when and when not to use them. My junior year had to be the year where I finally realized how words can make a difference. Our class was getting ready to start writing essay to send to our top ten colleges. I was worried, because I did not pay attention to my past English instructors when they would talk about the specific rules to writing a perfect essay. Luckily one of my instructors had an after school program that helped students write etiquette essays. Words can either be used in a good way or bad. I’ve used words in a good way when it comes to helping others out. I know I always try to stay positive and spread it with other people by using the right words. Most of the times people don’t really have anyone to talk to so a simply good morning or have a nice day would make their day. Words have came back to me in a good way, before leaving my past job I sent out an email to everyone of how grateful I was to work with great people. With just that one email I sent, it opened up many doors for me. The President and CEO of the company asked me if I was planning to find a job when moving to college station. I responded yes, and very generously asked me for my information. He also emailed me his information, that way I can write his name down for inferences. He went to school here at Texas A&M for three years and within those years he met a lot of people. Now I have a job at Macy’s all thanks to him for spreading the word out for me. Someone who has inspired me with words would be J Cole. I’ve been listening to him since I can remember, his use of words are really inspiring. How he takes words about his life and puts them to use for music is amazing. J Cole talks about his struggles and his successes and you can’t really find a lot of artists now a day who does talk about that.

A Little About Me

My name is Litzi Alcantar, and I am currently 18 years old. I was born on September 5, 1998 in Venustiano Carranza, Mexico. Then moved to California when I was only nine months old. After living in Avenal, California for sixteen in a half years we later then moved to Yoakum, Texas during the summer of 2015. I have four siblings; their names are Ayendili, Alfredo, Diego, and Gael. My sister is currently attending California State University Long Beach, Alfredo is a junior in high school, Diego is a fifth grader, and Gael is in kindergarten. Things I like to do when I am not in school is; clean my apartment, organize my clothes, go out for a swim, or even go for a run. My favorite sport to play is soccer, because it's a really interesting and competitive sport to play. I have been playing soccer since my sophomore year of high school and absolutely loved it ever since then. I played for almost two years at Avenal High School. Then when I moved to Yoakum, Texas I played soccer for my last season of my senior year in high school. I really enjoyed playing this sport because I got the chance to meet  lot of amazing people due to the fact that we all had one thing in common, soccer. One of my absolutely favorite series to watch is Grey’s Anatomy, I have watched all 12 season. Now I am anxiously waiting for the new season to come out this September. Watching this series really made me think about what I wanted to major in college. Most people would get grossed out because of all the realistic incidents and blood the series would show, but to me it was interesting to see how surgeons worked together to make sure the all patients were stable. My future goals is to transfer to Texas A&M University, earn my BSN(Bachelors of Science in Nursing), and maybe then try to apply to medical school.
